Pro and Basic versions are compatible with eachother (Basic is upward compatible to be precise), so Pro user can add as many Basic users as needed and all Basic users can see eachother, but they cannot add more users on their own if total number of participants is 3 or greater.
Same goes for object limit: Pro can have as many objects as needed, Basic user will see and be able to edit/delete all of them (even emf images) but just cannot add more objects if total objects per page is greater than 65.
Same goes for Boards/Tabs and Papers per Board/Tab, Pro can add as many as needed, Basic user will see and be able to edit all of them, but just cannot add more Boards/Tabs or Papers if maximum allowed is reached or exceeded.
In conclusion, for Pro user it does not matter if other user is Pro or Basic, Pro user can do same things as always, and Basic user will be able to see all of those things, even if they exceed the limits set to Basic user.
And that is the main reason why it is perfect for teachers, only teacher has to have Pro version, students can install free version since it is completely compatible with Pro.
